Jasper Johns | Between the Clock and the Bed | 1981
Inspired by Edvard Munch’s self-portrait of the same title, in which the artist contemplates his mortality while standing between the ticking clock of life and the bed that awaits him, which is covered with a bedspread of the same pattern of interlocking geometric lines used by Johns.
